Our family had an absolutely incredible experience at CookEle. We were traveling with 4 young children (ages 1 to 4), and Anabel could not have been more wonderful with the kids. They were invited to join in the cooking or even make their own concoctions. And the rest of us got to learn quite a bit about Spanish food and cooking while totally relaxed because the kids were happy.
Anabel creates a friendly, engaging, and fun vibe at her lovely cooking school. I signed up for a class for my mother, who enjoys cooking but speaks little English and no Spanish, and Anabel went above and beyond to make sure her experience was an enjoyable one. Her recipes are legitamate as well - not only clearly written and accompanied with hand drawings - they produce end products that tastes complex yet refreshing. The Salmorejo my mother made with Anabel is better than the one we had in Cordoba, where the soup originated. My mother had a memorable experience at Cookele and I'm sure you will too. The school is conveniently located in the flat part of Granada and is easily accessible by car and foot.
I went one year ago and meant to write my review much earlier. I had such a lovely time taking two classes with Anabel. I am also a teacher and I appreciated the techniques she used with us so that we better learned Spanish from her. I highly recommend.
My friends and I had such an amazing time at CookEle with Ana! We loved her energy - she is so warm and patient (and funny), a natural host and teacher. Over three hours we learned lots of new words in Spanish, connected with other travelers and made really delicious food. I would absolutely recommend taking a class here during your stay in Granada - we will definitely be back on our next visit!!
Fantastic class! Anabel (a trained language teacher and cook) made this afternoon so fun and engaging - we learned a lot about Andalusian food and practised and expanded our Spanish skills at the same time. Laughing, learning and taste-testing made the time fly by as we prepared and then ate a delicious three-course meal together. A must-do if you're in Granada!
